Every publication starts with a group of people who were curious enough to ask questions and stubborn enough to keep chasing the answers. That is us. We are a small team of students who care about markets, business and the ideas shaping the world we are about to step into, and this is where we share what we find. Before we get into the writing, we thought we should introduce ourselves.
Thomas Antonis
Thomas Antonis is in his third year of a Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Melbourne, majoring in finance and accounting, where he has earned first class honours in both Investments and Corporate Financial Decision Making and was part of a top three national finalist team at the CBA Global Markets Case Competition. Outside of coursework, he co-founded and helps run an independent quantitative trading syndicate, building and testing pricing models that hunt for inefficiencies across wagering markets and listed equities. He also works as a finance assistant at the Australian School of Performing Arts, handling reconciliations and accounts payable, which keeps him honest about the difference between a clean spreadsheet and a clean set of books.
He brings the numbers, the scepticism and a stubborn interest in why prices are what they are. When he is not modelling something in Excel, he is usually on a golf course, out on a long run, or over a chessboard.
